I decided just to replace the one shitty turbo with a new stocker. Now I know what your thinking but bear with me for a minute :) I bought a new crank and replaced the one rod that was damaged. I had all the other rods checked to se if they were in spec. They all were, as were the cylinders, block and heads. I really didn't want to spend more than I had in my savings account right now. I don't want to go into debt just to build up my motor. So here's my line of thought. Make sure the engine is withing spec. Replace only the damaged parts and anything that carried oil or was made of rubber. Get it in good running order until I can save up enough to rebuild the whole thing from the ground up. I don't really want to do all that until the car is paid off. I have enough debt right now. Don't want to compound it just for a car. I found a pretty knowledgable guy to put the engine together so it should be in pretty good shape after we're done. I would say the engine is about halfway built right now. Another week or so and it'll be ready to go back in the car. My total parts bill so far is ~$2400. No labor costs because I'm going to help roof my engine guy's house in exchange for his service :) I've always been pretty good at resisting peer pressure.
